The Fèis Chataibh Cèilidh Trail offers professional development and performance opportunities for local young musicians. With a training week and three weeks touring throughout Sutherland and Caithness during July 2012, this is a ‘holiday job’ with a difference!

Following the success of previous years, Fèis Chataibh is now recruiting up to eight young musicians to create a new band.If you are aged 16 - 22, play, sing or dance at an intermediate /advanced level and would like to spend part of the summer performing in a variety of venues in your local area please get in touch. 
Some performance experience would be an advantage.

deliver an innovative new traditional music project as part of the Year  of Creative Scotland 2012. 

Combining a new National Ceilidh Trail organised by Fèis Rois and a Scotland-wide Session programme organised by the Traditional Music and Song Association (TMSA), Trad Trails will enable visitors and local people to 
experience the very best of Scottish traditional music in a variety of venues –
including pubs, village halls, historic sites and farmers’ markets.

Over 500 ceilidhs, concerts and music sessions will take place across the country between March and November 2012.

Details of all Sessions and Ceilidh Trail performances will be available from March 2012 onwards on a new shared website at www.tradtrails.org.uk.

If you are aged 16 – 25 and considering a professional career in traditional  music performance, you can apply to take part in the National Ceilidh
Trail. The National  Ceilidh Trail is a paid summer job taking place f
rom 9th July to 18th August.  Deadline for applications is 31st March 2012.

With the support of Creative Scotland and Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park, we are offering up to 8 young musicians the opportunity to form a band and perform around our local area.

 Ceilidh Trails have been running all over the country for over a decade now and this is the first project of its kind in the Stirling area. The Ceilidh Trail allows young people the opportunity to perform in public, enhancing their performance skills through a sustained period where they are treated as professional musicians. Local communities, businesses and visitors also benefit and get to enjoy great live traditional music from young people in the community. 

Participants will be paid for four weeks over the Summer holiday period, so if you are interested in a career in traditional music, this is the perfect work experience and a great Summer job.

 The age limit for participants is 16-22 (by 30/06/12) and participants will be invited to audition at the Tolbooth, Stirling on Thursday 12th April. 
 
If accepted, participants will then take part in a team-building weekend where they can meet other participants before they attend a training week at the Plockton School of Excellence. During this week participants will receive tuitions from some of the best musicians in the country on performance, stage craft, repertoire and sound technology. 
 
The Ceilidh Trail itself will run between the 23rd July and 10th August. The tour will comprise of a varied programme giving participants the opportunity to participate in various types of performance throughout the Loch Lomond & Trossachs area.

Fèisean Lochabair Ceilidh Trail 2012 are looking for local musicians aged 16 - 25 to tour during July 2012 in the Lochaber area, as a cèilidh/dance/concert band.

Fèis Fhoirt has been running successfully throughout the Stirling and Falkirk area for the past three years, holding two annual traditional music tuition festivals for over 100 children aged 8-18.  At the Fèis children get the chance to learn a variety of musical instruments from highly experienced professional tutors, in addition to learning more about Gaelic language and culture.

There are 44 Fèisean which take place all over Scotland throughout the year, offering teaching to over 6,000 young people, and a number of them have developed annual Cèilidh Trails which give their most experienced fèis participants the chance to spend their summer touring their local area.

This summer, Fèis Fhoirt are aiming to begin such a venture in the Stirlingshire area with a pilot project called “Summer Sessions”.  Five of the most advanced musicians from the fèis will play various concerts, sessions and cèilidh around the area throughout August and September.  This will hopefully lead to a full scale Cèilidh Trail in Summer 2012 involving more local young people from the area.

Cèilidh Trails give participants the opportunity to learn more about a range of key skills that will be of use to them as they develop as aspiring semi or fully professional musicians.  As well as providing an opportunity for musical training, the trails give young people with similar interests a chance to share their creativity.

Following the Cèilidh Trail model, the Fèis Fhoirt Summer Sessions will offer employment and professional development opportunities to young musicians and work with local organisations and businesses to develop cultural tourism opportunities.  The Cèilidh Trails have established themselves over the last twelve years across the Highlands & Islands and this project will allow audiences in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs area to benefit from the skills of local, young musicians.

With funding from Cairngorms, Argyll and the Highlands and Islands LEADER 2007-2013 programmes, six ceilidh trails will once again take to the road this summer as part of our Cèilidhean air Chuairt Slighean Ùra - Ceilidh Trail New Routes project.

Thèid an tachartas seo a chumail aig Stiùidio Fàs, Sabhal Mòr Ostaig agus bi e fosgailte don mhòr-shluagh.

The Ceilidh Trails will kick off with a training week in Plockton where they will benefit from working with a talented team of tutors including Anna Massie, Donal Brown, Allan Henderson and Blair Douglas. In a new development the Ceilidh Trailers will share the stage for a final night concert with participants of the Sgoil Shamraidh Dhrama which will be taking place at the same time in Portree. This event will take place at the Fàs building, Sabhal Mor Ostaig and will be open to the public.

Inspired by the success of the Slighean Ura – New Routes project, Stirling based, Fèis Fhoirt will be offering their participants an opportunity to increase their own performance experience with a new project called ‘Summer Sessions’. Based on the Ceilidh Trail model, participants will undertake a mini-tour of Stirling and the Trossachs playing their own brand of traditional music. This project will be led by local musician and former Fèis participant Siobhan Anderson.
